New Life Foursquare Church Barcelona – Vida Nueva Barcelona Iglesia Cuadrangular
As a church and part of this body of Christ we understand that the life of man is not able to be filled completely by itself but when we recognize this life of Jesus as the Christ, Son of God, and through this faith in Him and in the understanding of His word we are able to find true life, that is the spiritual life through Jesus, of whom gave his life for us on the cross.
Not only believing, but understanding that it is the eternal life: “And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent” John 17:3 ESV, we understand the life of faith correctly only through the knowledge of His Word and in communion and personal relationship with Jesus.
Based on Acts 2:42 ESV:
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
Our aim is to always be devoted to this truth that is His word “Sanctify them in Your truth, your word is the truth” John 17:17 ESV, that it should be the base of every believer, and we desire as a church to live in this truth, where Christ is the center and with him we have communion, communion that gives us freedom and also to have communion with others as brothers and sisters in the faith, also understanding the prayer as our dependency and necessity daily of God as believers.
Julio and Paola Duran
Julio Duran, born in Bogota, Colombia, on June 14, 1981, in a family with a Catholic/Christian background, his mother met Jesus and His Word when she was 5 years old and since then has been in the evangelical church (Iglesia Cristiana Carismática Cuadrangular en Bogotá, Colombia).
His profession is a doctor and he has been married to Paola Andrea Vera since May 2010. He came to Barcelona June 2009 to advance his studies in his medical specialty for 4 years and during this time they attended the Foursquare Church of Barcelona, initially pastored by pastors and friends, Eduardo and Lorena Betetto. In 2013, Eduardo and Lorena returned to Argentina and Julio and Paola received the call to pastor the Foursquare Church of Barcelona.
“We are bivocational pastors ie we work in our professions and we pastor the church. Our motivation to be in Barcelona is one that as more people know of Jesus they can experience this abundant life at a spiritual level and that it can only be through knowing Jesus and His Word.
Also our desire is understanding that the church are believers and not a building or a place where we are and that we are able to be this church that God desires falling down in adoration with all reverence and respect that he deserves in these times where there are so many deviations of the Gospel toward toward humanistic teachings that feed the flesh and the emotions of the people and one can forget the most important thing is the spiritual life and the real knowledge of the will of God for the believer.
For this we bind ourselves to The Word as the only guide where the center is not man but the only Rock and Head of the Church that is Jesus Christ.
“Foursquare” is a Biblical term used of the tabernacle in the Book of Exodus, of the Temple of the Lord in Ezekiel 40:47, and of Heaven, as described in the book of the Revelation. The term “Foursquare Gospel” was given in the inspiration of revival to the denomination’s founder, Aimee Semple McPherson, during an evangelistic campaign in Oakland, Calif., in 1922. It represents that which is equally balanced on all sides, established and enduring. Such confidence in the power of the Gospel is also expressed by the verse, Hebrews 13:8, displayed in Foursquare churches proclaiming, “Jesus Christ the Same, Yesterday and Today and Forever.” (source: Foursquare.org)
Jesus Christ, The Savior
The first and most important aspect of the Foursquare doctrine is that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation for man. The salvation is not by works but by grace through faith and no one can save themselves. (Ephesians 2:8)
Jesus Christ, Baptized with the Holy Spirit
The Salvation, the forgiveness of sins is not the end of all that Jesus can and wants to do for us. Once Converted to Him, We can be filled with the Holy Spirit and have the evidence of this baptism through the manifestation of the 9 gifts mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12 from the Bible.
Christ, the Healer
On the cross of Calvary, Jesus took our sins and also our pains and sicknesses. A promise for our days is that by his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53). We can be healed supernatually of our physical sicknesses through the power of God.
Jesus Christ, the Coming King
Jesus Christ will return soon to reign. The Bible calls him the king of kings and Lord of lords. This is the wonderful hope we have (Revelations 22)!
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28: 19-20 ESV
We understand that there is no other mission of the church of Christ than to go and make disciples for Christ in the nations and through His word, baptising them in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit so that the believer can live the life of faith with fullness, understanding what the will of God is.
